Our friend Randy Reynolds is retiring after leading the facilities group at LL Bean for over 20 years. I was honored to join him at his going-away party, which was full of happy memories and lots of laughs. What I’ll remember most about Randy is sitting with him in his office while an enormous elk head watched us from a mount on the wall. We’d alternate between extreme concentration, focused on solving a tricky design problem on one of the many projects we did together, to laughing uproariously at one of his many stories. It was all part of working on an LL Bean project, and for me, what the LL Bean brand is all about: friendship, integrity, authenticity, attention to detail, craftsmanship, and yes, having fun.
