We’ve worked on some really interesting experiential retail, but FLOAT Boston may be one of our most unique. Arrowstreet served as the architect for a fit out at 515 Medford Street for this flotation therapy company. We designed a reception area and a private room for each float tank (ensuring that there was sufficient structural support) and developed an interior design plan.

A float tank is an enclosed, shallow pool filled with warm water and 800 pounds of Epson salt, which allows users to float effortlessly. Users float in the silent, dark space for around an hour…losing sense of gravity and fully entering a state of relaxation.

I was a little worried that I would be bored or feel claustrophobic when I tried floating recently, but was pleasantly surprised to find that the time went quickly and the lack of sensation allowed me to take a real pause in the day. Others seem to be enjoying FLOAT as well; two additional tanks are expected to arrive soon.
