KIPP Boston is on schedule to open for the new school year in the late summer of 2016. At the end of the year we were working on plumbing and electrical, finalizing masonry, installing windows, and preparing for the installation of the school gym. In the past few weeks, things have been moving quickly as the pre-engineered gym structure has been installed and the metal siding is going up. Exterior siding work started this week and will include fiberglass z-channels, mineral wool fiber insulation, and sheathing before fiber cement siding is installed. Inside, acoustical ceiling tile is going in, walls are being painted, and bathrooms are being tiled. There’s still a lot of detail work to come, but the building gets closer to being ready for students every day.
