Last month I attended the grand opening of the Smithsonian National African American Museum of History and Culture on the Mall in DC. It was particularly special for me given my cultural connection to what the museum exhibits as well as the tremendous collaborative efforts put forth by three well regarded black architects; David Adjaye, Phil Freelon and Max Bond.

Immediately following the opening, the AIA and NOMA held a reception to allow those who traveled across the country to share in the occasion. Check back soon for my reactions on the opening of the museum itself.
