I’m just back from Greenbuild 2016 in LA and it was another great conference with plenty of knowledge shared, new tech seen and fun had. Along with my colleague Shannon Kaplan, I was able to share our work on engaging occupants in achieving net zero and high performing buildings.

My most memorable takeaway was “Partnership is the New Leadership”. This really rings true for me because we are all here on this planet together and we must deal with climate change together. When we are tackling building performance, whether it is energy, water, health, or resilience, we need collaboration and innovation to succeed. Design solutions need to be interdisciplinary, integrated and socially inclusive.

I’m excited to set the planning for Greenbuild 2017 into high gear. The event will be held in Boston next year, with a theme of “All In”. As chair of the Local Outreach & Partnerships Subcommittee I see a great connection with this theme. Boston has embraced partnership to lead the way in mitigating and adapting to climate change. I can’t wait to show the rest of the world what we are up to here.
