This state-of-the-art facility in the Seaport’s Marine Industrial Park was designed to provide refrigerated space for cold storage tenants, as well as a rooftop greenhouse to generate enough produce to feed 7,000 people.  A highly efficient design makes the most of what might not traditionally be thought of as complementary uses, including a heat recovery system that converts waste heat from the refrigeration process into under slab heating. The greenhouse was conceived to be the largest space dedicated to urban agriculture in Boston’s Seaport District.
