The Chair Fair is a two day event at the Smith College Campus Center which provides an opportunity for students to test out some of the furniture pieces that are in consideration for the new Neilson Library. We separated the furniture into two vignettes, Reading Room and Classroom, to demonstrate where the furniture could be used in the library. Additionally, furniture was numbered to facilitate student feedback.
The library includes a complete renovation and two new wings, “the jewel boxes”, designed by Maya Lin Studio in New York. Arrowstreet’s Interior Design Studio is responsible for the new space’s furniture program.
