Arrowstreet’s Director of Sustainability & Building Performance, Kate Bubriski, AIA CPHC, LEED AP BD+C, Fitwel Ambassador has been awarded a 40 Under 40: Champions of Construction 2020.
The 40 Under 40: Champions of Construction 2020 shows how transformation can happen in even the most challenging times. This year, an extraordinary group of individuals who managed against all odds to excel their businesses, projects, and communities forward have been recognized. This list features some of the leading talent emerging from top organizations and projects around the world.
As the Director of Sustainability and Building Performance at Arrowstreet, Kate works every day to provide healthier, more sustainable buildings that improve the lives of occupants and communities. She has played a lead role in some of the firm’s most projects. This has included King Open (the first net zero emissions school in Massachusetts), Douglas & Gates Elementary School (designed as net zero emissions and water), and 21 Charles Street one of the first mass timber office building in Massachusetts). This year, Kate has seized the challenges of the global pandemic and the justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion movement to bring attention to the role the built environment plays on human health. She helped reframe the conversation and sought opportunities to bring the message to a larger, virtual audience through webinars, panels, and podcasts. Additionally, she saw the architecture industry’s need to lend its expertise to help clients and communities evaluate and plan for mitigation strategies in their existing buildings. From schools to offices, Kate rapidly ramped up research and created tools and resources for Arrowstreet to perform this work to get students back in classrooms and people back in offices and develop long-term strategies for existing and new buildings to incorporate viral mitigation into the design. Finally, her dedication to mentorship has helped to provide many with valuable learning opportunities.
