Arrowstreet uses model building and 3D printing technology in our design practice. The creation of models allows us to take what has previously been a flat image on a screen, and turn it into an actual physical object that can be picked up and touched. These models serve multiple purposes and are utilized for proposals, interviews, community meetings, and zoning board hearings. They enhance the design process and accelerate communication between our team and respective stakeholders.
The process of viewing a project using a model enables us to examine multiple design iterations from different vantage points and to better understand our decisions within a given context. Designers and clients benefit from the ability to see a design in three-dimensions, and against the scale of the environment that surrounds it during the design process.
