General Growth Properties CEO Sandeep Mathrani recently spoke at NAREIT’s annual convention about the keys to a successful mall. Among them, he cited the curation of the right tenants, and a “removal of the pain points.”  At Arrowstreet, we’re hard at work helping GGP with those very ideas at Providence Place, in Providence, Rhode Island.

We were the architects of the original Providence Place, which was completed in 1997.  Since then, many changes have occurred in the retail world, and we’re working with GGP to refresh the entire customer experience, from street to storefront.

In the 4,000 car garage, we’re replacing all of the branded and wayfinding signage and providing new LED lighting, as well as implementing a “park assist” program to help visitors navigate the many floors of the garage.  After parking their vehicles, visitors will notice the all-new entry lobbies as bright, colorful beacons welcoming them to the mall.

Additionally, we’re helping to re-purpose one of the anchor spaces.  Customers will enjoy new retail offerings, both large and small, that enhance the already fabulous array of merchants and restaurants onsite.

We’re excited to help GGP with this project and can’t wait to reveal it later this year.
