Brooklyn Boulders Preview
Arrowstreet is working on this super cool new climbing gym right here in Somerville. This video shows more of what’s to come.
Here is some more information on the gym, directly from our client, Brooklyn Boulders…
Unum Office Building Time-Lapse
Through the wonders of time-lapse photography, you can now watch the construction of our recently completed Unum Worcester headquarters building in under two minutes. It’s interesting to note that there is as much activity in the background and adjacent streets as there is on the building itself. Special thanks to Mike Conlan and Pat Strangie for all their work in CA – each of them probably has a (very) brief cameo in this video!
Side note: the Unum project and the CitySquare development are the topic of this month’s ULI Member Lunch with Donald Birch – if you’re a member of ULI, we look forward to seeing you there.
A New Courtyard at 210 Broadway
Just this past fall, a new courtyard opened at 210 Broadway in Cambridge. With ipe decks and seating that seem to flow right up and out of the courtyard, and an illuminated glass wall along the street edge, there is now a bright, comfortable place for building occupants to take a break from work and get fresh air…
An Update on Chestnut Hill
Chestnut Hill Square’s long journey is becoming reality. The foundations are poured, the steel is erected, the exterior brick and limestone facades are being installed, storefront and curtainwall glass is underway, and the parking garage precast erection starts this week. Soon tenants like Wegmans Food Market, the health club Equinox, and restaurants Seasons 52 and Brio Tuscan Grille will begin…
A Time to Look Back
The start of a new year brings optimism and refreshed energy for the future, and also a chance to look back on accomplishments from the previous year. 2012 was a busy year at Arrowstreet. We celebrated the opening of two new charter schools in the Boston metro area, the corporate headquarters for Rechler Equity in Long Island, White Elephant Village Inn in Nantucket, a T-station garage and cool new bridge in Revere, and an LL Bean store in Danbury. The Arrowstreet construction banner was flying high in 2012…
Unum Office Building Opens
Worcester’s newest office building will open to employees on Monday, January 21st. The building is the first to be built at CitySquare, the 20-acre development that will revitalize downtown Worcester. This class-A office facility will be occupied by 700 employees of leading insurer Unum…
Mocking Up a New Office Space
Arrowstreet recently unveiled a new studio section designed to test an open plan concept. Eight stations (four benching layouts and four shared U-shaped) were constructed using recycled materials from an area formerly secluded and compartmentalized. By eliminating tall walls and bringing available light deeper into the space, we created a much better flow with the rest of the office. We will push the “reduce, recycle, reuse” concept further by moving into smaller stations and sharing adjacent meeting tables, a stand-up meeting bar, and a sketching station. Photos to come!
Revere Bridge Lights Up the Holidays
On December 20th, the pedestrian bridge recently completed as part of the Waterfront Square Transit Oriented Development was lit for the first time. In early fall, our team, with the support of the City of Revere and help from Suffolk Construction and Color Kinetics, mocked up and selected color-changing LED lights at the base of the cable stay pylons. As illustrated in the photos, the lights are now installed and have been fired up with the holiday season in mind. With the recent dedication of the bridge to Congressman Markey’s family, this next step moves the project one step closer to a public opening. In the coming weeks, LED-lit railings and the glass-enclosed elevators will be completed, finalizing the connection between the MBTA’s Wonderland Station and the historic Revere Beach. We look forward to seeing the many color variations of the bridge over the course of the coming months and congratulate the Markey family, the City, MBTA, DCR, and Eurovest Development and on this new milestone.
Life Sciences Work Underway
Currently under construction in Cambridgeport, two MIT-owned buildings at 130 Brookline Street and 17 Tudor Street together form a small campus with adjacent open space and parking. 17 Tudor Street (red brick, originally built in 1924) is nearing completion this month, with 130 Brookline (buff-colored masonry, originally built in 1927) planned to wrap up in June 2013.
Stay tuned for construction updates and photos!
