Arrowstreet’s Annual Holiday Party
As the calendar turns to the latter half of December, Arrowstreet hosts its annual Holiday Party at the office. The party this year was quite the success with the whole Arrowstreet family- including spouses, children, and a few Arrowstreet “alumni” and friends who stopped by to enjoy delicious foods and spirits. The children had their own room set up with arts and crafts, games, movies, and kid-friendly dinner. Computers throughout the office displayed photos from the year’s events, site visits, and office outings while people strolled around the space chatting, catching up, and sampling the tasty morsels being served…
Structural Insulated Panels in Lake Winnipesaukee
I have been working on a private residence on an island in Lake Winnipesaukee utilizing innovative structural insulated panels (SIPS). The system was developed by a company in Rhode Island for outfitting ships at sea, was subsequently adapted to provide demountable structures for the US military in Afghanistan, and is now being adapted further for home building…

We’re pleased to announce that Arrowstreet was a Silver Award winner at this year’s ICSC Design and Development Awards with Wisconsin Place in the category of “Innovative Design and Development of a New Project”…
Nordica Theatre at Freeport Village
The new Nordica Theatre is sure to provide an exciting evening alternative in Freeport, Maine, where spending a night out at the movies hasn’t been possible in many years. Less than 10,000 people live in Freeport, but with a regional draw from outlying areas there has long been strong interest in bringing a movie theater to the center of town. The only challenge has been…everything. Who would build it? Where? Who would operate it? Most importantly, who would come…

KIPP Academy Lynn Update
The New KIPP Academy Lynn project is being delivered using the “CM at Risk” procurement method. Consigli Construction Co. is the Construction Manager for the project, and we have been working with their team during construction to leverage the Building Information Model (BIM) that was originally used to design and document the project…
LEED for Homes: Multifamily Midrise
In late 2010, the United States Green Building Council expanded the LEED for Homes certification with a new Multifamily Midrise category, in order for 4-6 story residential buildings to pursue LEED certification. As the original LEED for Homes certification was designed for single family and low rise multi-family, the program did not accommodate the special demands of the slightly taller projects, especially with the increased density of living units…
Dwiggins Marionettes at the BPL
Earlier this year, our graphic design studio was awarded the comprehensive wayfinding project for the Copley Square branch of the Boston Public Library. It’s a terrific project and really an amazing place to wander and explore. In our orientation to the two historic buildings and our subsequent site visits (for programming and analysis), we discovered quite a few unusual spaces. One of these spaces is home to the Dwiggins Collection…
Waffles at Women’s Lunch Place, Redux
Recently Arrowstreet hosted a Waffle Breakfast for the Women’s Lunch Place (WLP) at their newly renovated space in the basement of the Church of the Covenant. For some of us it was the first time to see the space since Arrowstreet completed renovations to the facility. Earlier this year we had hosted a similar Waffle Breakfast, and the difference was quite dramatic…
Pumpkin Design Contest
On Friday, October 28th Arrowstreeters showcased their design, carving, and decorating skills at our 4th annual Pumpkin Design Contest. We had a variety of entries in this year’s contest, including a Transformkin complete with drywall screws (Matt Rice); a traditional Halloween bat carving (Greg Triplett); a wide-eyed, floppy-eared dog named Spot (Mike Conlan); a cannibalistic pumpkin dripping candy corn (Stephanie Tyll and Lama Bitar); and pumpkin carved like an Oak tree with a “tire” swing (Lauren Haggerty)…
