North Jetty Building Groundbreaking
The groundbreaking for the new cold storage building we are working on for Cargo Ventures – located in the Marine Industrial Park in the Seaport – will be held in the next two weeks. The 325,000-square-foot facility will provide refrigerated space tailored to the needs of each cold storage tenant. The rooftop will be a 110,000 SF greenhouse (the size of two football fields) for a yet-to-be-announced urban agriculture grower and will generate enough food to feed 7,000 people…
The Evolution of Kendall Square
Kendall Square is a very different place than it once was. While some may say that its less of a true downtown (like Central or Harvard Square) than it could have been, it has certainly been an economic and tax engine for the City of Cambridge. It also gets a little better every year, with added housing and retail and other interesting uses (although some of us still miss a bit of the grit and grime and, in particular, the old F&T diner)…
Our Studio’s Functional Art
As part of our furniture acquisition for our new office, we decided to incorporate a bit of our culture, our sketches, and our connection to a special client…all while creating functional, one-of-a-kind furniture for our kitchen café…
60 Hampshire under Construction
Newly acquired as part of BioMed Realty Trust’s campus near Kendall Square, this former iron foundry was in need of a transformation to accommodate the demands of today’s office/lab tenants. Arrowstreet is restoring the historic building’s exterior to its previous luster and is upgrading its interior into a flexible space to suit a variety of tenants…
1550 Main Street Lauded by BOMA Mid-Atlantic
1550 Main Street, designed by Arrowstreet, was awarded The Outstanding Building of the Year distinction by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) for the second consecutive year in a row. The former federal office building, owned MassDevelopment, was renovated as part of a strategy to help revitalize downtown Springfield, MA. Working together with MassDevelopment and the City of Springfield, Arrowstreet designed a comprehensive package of exterior and interior building renovations to convert the building into Class-A commercial offices with ground floor retail uses. In addition, Arrowstreet redesigned the central plaza to improve circulation and its position as a meeting place on Main Street.
Brooke Mattapan Charter Concludes Construction
We are currently wrapping up construction for our work at Brooke Mattapan Charter School, and while on site I snapped these pics to show the progress. The building was constructed in the early 1900s, and we’re modernizing it to accommodate 475 students in grades K-8. Most noticeably in these photos you can see the addition of the glass stair tower,…
Brooke Mattapan in USA Today
Brooke Charter Schools are doing some amazing work in our community as discussed in today’s USA Today, and it’s nice we can play a small role with helping them to do those great things. Can’t wait to see what happens when they can teach in their new facility come September.
Photography Contest Winners
Over the past few months, Arrowstreet has been holding an in-house photography contest, and our finale party was last Friday night. Initiated by Principal Sean Selby, the contest was another way to encourage everyone to explore our new neighborhood, allow the entire staff an outlet for their creativity, and throw in a little friendly competition for some prizes.
Mirbeau Inn & Spa at The Pinehills Opens
On Saturday, June 28, I had the pleasure of attending the open house for the new Mirbeau Inn & Spa at the Pinehills. Our team has been working on the project for a little over two years and to see it all come together was a tremendous experience. The open house was an invitation-only event for key individuals involved in the project and in the local market to see a preview of the property before the official opening on Sunday. Members of the staff were available to give tours and answer questions about the property as well as the new Le Bistro & Wine Bar and Henri-Marie menus. Executive Chef Stephen Coe oversaw the preparation of a wide variety of hors d’oeuvres to give guests an introduction to the new menu and I can assure you that everything was delicious!
