We’ve Arrived in Post Office Square
After much anticipation, Arrowstreet has landed in our new office in Post Office Square. The Arrowstreet team banded together and successfully transferred all of our drawings, files, technology, and creative energy to our new space. We’ve made a quick transition and are back at work making things happen for our clients. We have some exciting new work we’re starting on as we ramp up in the new space – including a major project we’ll have a birds-eye view of from our office. We’re looking forward to hosting meetings with our clients and business associates in the coming weeks. Follow our blog for photos of our office (once all of the boxes are gone), and updates on what we’re up to.
Our Firm’s State of the Union
In a week that marked the State of the Union addresses for both our state and country, I thought it a good time to share a similar status update for Arrowstreet. As we’ve mentioned on this blog before, Arrowstreet is relocating our architectural practice to the heart of downtown Boston in a little over a week now…
Step It Up
I was excited to find this article about Active Design in Urban Land magazine. Arrowstreet has been working with PKF Consulting on a project for the Department of Defense called the Healthy Base Initiative. The project goal is to find innovative and affordable ways to make military installations healthier places to live and work. Like the rest of the American population, active duty military personnel are facing increasing problems with obesity. More and more of the work is computer based which results in a workforce that sits at their desks all day…
Parcel K Discussed at District Hall
Last night, Arrowstreet and Conroy Development had an engaging presentation and discussion about the new mixed-use development on MassPort’s Parcel K, which will provide new residences and a hotel for visitors to the Innovation District. In addition, the project will contribute to the Innovation District’s mission to accommodate micro-residential units and flex office space, complimented by restaurants and retail, all serviced by the adjacent Silver Line. The support for the program and the building’s aesthetic is encouraging and we look forward to further public discussions as the project develops.

Brooklyn Boulders has inspired us with their unique vision and tenacious drive, and we celebrate their continued success!
Greenbuild 2013
Last November I headed to Philadelphia to attend Greenbuild 2013, an annual conference dedicated to the green building movement. Attendees share ideas, learn from industry experts, and develop new ideas to advance this movement. The 10th annual conference was attended by almost 25,000 practitioners, manufacturers, contractors, government officials, citizens, students, and more.
Edward Mazria gave a presentation I particularly enjoyed. Mazria is the founder of Architecture 2030, an organization focusing on buildings, the largest consumers of energy in the world, to address and reverse climate change. The 2030 Challenge sets targets for reductions in greenhouse gas emissions…
101 Main Achieves LEED Silver Certification
I’m happy to announce that the new regional offices we designed for BioMed Realty at 101 Main Street received LEED Silver Certification. The office is open, collaborative, and crisply detailed; multiple breakout and “huddle” spaces encourage impromptu discussions and collaboration. We’re proud of the project, and doubly proud of the green design choices (green power, enhanced commissioning, and low-emitting materials, to…
Pie in the Sky
Each year, my family and I form a pie team for Community Servings’ annual Pie in the Sky fundraising event. The event, which has just completed its 21st year, raises money to provide meals and nutrition to the critically ill and homebound in Massachusetts. Community Servings provides meals to more than 800 individuals and families across 18 towns and cities, in support of its founding goals: to help its clients maintain their health and dignity, to preserve the integrity of their families, to provide nutritionally and culturally appropriate meals, and to send the message that someone cares…
